Admission Information

Admissions

The minimum age for enrollment is eighteen. The enrollment of high school students requires a special agreement between the Tennessee Board of Regents, the local board of education, and the Tennessee Technology Center at Hohenwald. Prospective students are urged to apply at any time.

Application steps are as follows:

  • Contact the school to obtain information and an application form.

  • Complete application and file it with the Center's Student Services Office.

  • Discuss primary training objectives with the guidance counselor if applicable.

  • Each student enrolling in a full-time program or Basic Skills/GED® Preparation will undergo the Basic Skills Assessment Program. If a student is found deficient in reading, writing, mathematics, or study skills, he or she will attend the Tech Center's Technology Foundations Program as a part of the instructional day. This highly-individualized activity is designed to assist the student in making satisfactory progress in his/her chosen program.

  • Although neither a high school diploma nor its equivalency is required for admission in most programs*, all students are encouraged to pursue such and will normally be enrolled in a General Education Development (GED®) preparation program while pursuing their technical training. Adult Basic Education is housed off campus at South Central Tennessee Career Center located in Hohenwald. The GED® test is administered on campus monthly.

  • To assist applicants with the selection of a suitable program, those enrolling without a high school diploma or GED® may be referred for an ability to benefit test. Applicants will be notified of place, date, and time of testing.
